About the Journal

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology was formerly known as Uhandisi Journal. The Uhandisi Journal was established in 1974 by the then Faculty of Engineering (FoE) of the University of Dar es Salaam. From 1974 to 2005, the Journal was published in print form only and came out twice a year. FoE became the College of Engineering and Technology (CoET) of the University of Dar es Salaam in 2006. Between 2005 to 2006, CoET decided to upgrade the Uhandisi Journal to serve the wider engineering and scientific community in a fast-changing technological world.

Initial efforts were made to digitize all Uhandisi Journal articles and store them in a digital archive. Then, Uhandisi Journal was changed to Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET).

TJET is the platform for communication and dissemination of scientific articles ranging from pure and applied sciences; to engineering and technological research between and among engineers, scientists, policy makers, allied professionals and the general public. It is published in both print and electronic by UDSM through CoET and issued thrice a year, in April, August and December. Occasionally, Special Issues are published in between to enable quick and timely dissemination of research findings, e.g., from peer reviewed and presented conference papers.

The journal can be accessed on Journal link and AJOL link.

All articles are open access to the public domain. Authors are not charged article processing charges (APC) or whatsoever. TJET aligns with open science and open research modus operandi to make all knowledge free.
